Bananas are actually berries, and the banana flavor in lollies is based on a now almost-extinct species of banana. The Gros Michel banana has been superceded by the modern Cavendish banana, yet the flavor still remains in the lollies.
There are marine colonial organisms called siphonophores, and they can get pretty big. The biggest one ever was one that had a 15 metre diameter and a ring of approximately 47 metres
